Do any of you use Goodreads? If you're a bookworm and don't, you should really check it out. I use it constantly to read book reviews and keep track of books I would like to read. I often refer to my "to-read" shelf when deciding what book to buy next. (And no, Goodreads is not paying me to say this.)
Anyway, the reason I'm telling you this is because I have challenged myself (thanks to the challenge presented by Goodreads, which is why I keep talking about it) to read 15 books this year. I had to pause and ask myself what on earth happened. I used to be such a bookworm. In junior high school, I literally read one book every day. In high school, I was the student who spent my free time with my nose in a book. As a young adult, I spent my lunch break sitting in my car reading a book while I ate. Now that I'm out of college and busy with a teaching career, I don't find much time to read. And when I do have extra time, I'm usually sucked in by Facebook, Pinterest, Trivia Crack, and whatever other technological addiction is available. So 15 books, while it isn't much compared to what I used to read, is going to be a good challenge for me. I really hope I'll surpass it and read even more, but I figure I have a little over 11 months left this year. So if I read one book a month, and a little extra during the summer, I should definitely be able to reach this goal.
I started my current book (An Eye For An Eye by Irene Hannon, you must check out her books if you like suspense) on December 23rd (according to Goodreads). So I've really got to commit more time to reading if I am to do this! Most of what I read was in just a few chunks, because once I get going I read a lot at a time. This book is hard to put down. So I know I can do this! I'll let you know how it goes.
